If you watched the latest video from Apple, you probably noticed a few new details about the iPhone. If you didn’t have time to sit through the whole thing, then we’ll give you a short recap.

Probably the most notable new feature is the ability to open PDF, Word and Excel files straight from your email. It appears to have a custom viewer, not just Google Docs & Spreadsheets like we thought before. You will also have the ability to use both POP and IMAP as your email client.

The stereo headphones look pretty cool. They have a microphone in-line that also acts as a clicker. One click will pause your music, while a double-click skips a track. When a phone call comes in, the music is paused and a single click will answer the call, while another click will end the conversation and send you back to your music.

I’m still disappointed by the maps. I love Google Maps, but if I’m going to rely on my phone for directions, I want it to have a GPS, that way I know I’m on the right track. However, since the iPhone isn’t going to come with a GPS, we’ll have to just make do. You can get turn-by-turn instructions, unfortunately someone will have to tap a button on the phone every time you make a turn. Google Maps will also keep you posted on traffic conditions in the area you will be traveling, so at least you’ll know what streets to avoid.

One thing that they touched on in the video was the ability to change ringtones. What was strangely absent was the ability to add custom ringtones like say, MP3s. You would think that the “best iPod they’ve ever created” would be able to play MP3s when your phone rings.

One final thing to note about the video, the guy is wearing a black shirt on a black background. So if you adjust your monitor just right, you can make it look as though the whole thing is brought to you by two floating hands and a floating head. Trust me, it makes the video far more entertaining.
