Friday is just around the corner and those of you that are lucky enough to score your very own Apple iPhone will soon look towards accessories to get the most out of your purchase. Since it is in many ways a beefed up iPod, you would guess that most iPod accessories would work. However, it won’t be quite the same.

The first problem is that will not be used as a phone while docked with speakers. I’m sure that all of you have heard that terrible noise that comes out of your speakers when you leave your phone sitting next to them. This will not always be the case, as new technology will allow for devices with RF shielding that will detect the iPhone and allow it to function as a phone.

Next, you won’t be able to use stereo Bluetooth headphones with your favorite new gadget. Well, that’s not exactly true, the headphones will still work but they will only play sound in mono. Finally, regular headphones won’t work with the iPhone either. It does have a 3.5-mm headphone jack, but the overmold surrounding the jack won’t allow your headphone plug to reach. This will likely be corrected with adapters in the near future.

These changes will make sure that not every iPod accessory will work with the iPhone, therefore, accessory makers will need to create new ones to appease iPhone owners. So after you’re done shelling out $500+ for the iPhone, you can expect to shell out even more for new accessories.
