You knew it was going to happen, then again it’s been happening for months already. The iPhone is up on eBay. This time we’re pretty sure that they are real, since they actually have pictures of the boxes. There are already dozens of auctions up, and plenty of suckers ready to pay extra for one.

So far, the highest bid I’ve seen is $1,099 for an 80GB iPhone. That’s only double the retail price. Why on earth would someone pay double the price for one of these? Yes, it is one of the most revolutionary products of our time, but that’s no reason to throw your money out the window.

Here’s the deal people, at 6PM PDT Apple’s online store will be open for business. Then you can go there and purchase one for the retail price. Yes, they may have some issues keeping the site up, and they will likely run out of stock very quickly, but wouldn’t it be worth it to at least try. Then if you’re desperate you could look around on eBay.
