Though Steve Jobs is rumored recently he will announce official ringtone creating software from Apple on Sept. 5th, Ambrosia Software company went ahead and has released iToner software, Mac OS X application that allows you to transfer custom ringtones for your Apple iPhone - without modifying, hacking or having to reset your iPhone. Personally I don’t know an easier interface than drag and drop, which iToner is bringing to the table. You drag and drop MP3 or AAC audio files on iToner’s window, click on Sync button, and music files are automatically copied into the iPhone’s ringtones section. Ambrosia confirms that all ringtones will continue to work after future iPhone OS updates.

The only one real lack is an inability to modify MP3/AAC files, selecting the portion of a track you actually want to play as your ringtone. For ringtone modifying you will need a special software like Amadeus or another sound editor.

The software is available for download (2.7MB), the cost $15. There is also 30-day trial period.
