Those Mac maniacs who use iTunes everyday, should have noticed that the “Ringtones” menu has appeared in iTunes player. So Apple has finally opened the ringtone’s feature in iTunes Store. This menu is hidden under “Library” list.

“When I connected my iPhone to Mac today, I have received a message, “You are now able to create ringtones with a select amount of songs. Would you like to check which songs are available in the iTunes Music Store?”.
Not every song can be converted into ringtone, a song in a list should have a “bell” in a special column. But there is another problem, “bell” column does not appear by default and must be turned on manually. You have to navigate to a list of your songs in the iTunes, then open “View” menu, then “View Options”, check “Ringtone”, after that “bell” column will appear in your songs list.
And it also seems that the “.m4r renaming hack” is working again. So now all you have to do is to rename AAC audio file to .m4r extension, and add this file as a ringtone in iTunes.
The price of one ringtone creation in iTunes is $0.99 and of course the number of songs that are available for converting is very limited, however, it appears they are still try to update the iTunes store.

MacRumors today has published a post about Rogue Amoeba, the company which has created such applications as Fission. Today they has released a free tool for your iPhone called MakeiPhoneRingtone. This Mac application makes a process of renaming mp3 files and converting into iTunes ringtones very simple. All you have to do is to create your desired ringtone in your favorite editor software, and then just drag-n-drop this file into MakeiPhoneRingtone app, that’s it. This ringtone’s file will be added to the Ringtones menu in iTunes, after that you just need to sync iTunes with your Apple iPhone.
Of course everybody understand that Apple could at any time close the door to all ringtones not purchased from iTunes Music Store. Rogue Amoeba company admits that there is no guarantee that Apple won’t lock out their app with new update.
