Jay Levy, one very dissapointing
fellow has been stung by Apple’s iPhone “friendly” union with AT&T. Why?
During vacasion on a Mediterranean sea he didn’t use Apple iPhone at all, and when he come back home he has received a 54-page monthly bill from AT&T company, the sum was almost 4800$. Ups…
The main problem was that his and his family three iPhones were racking up a bill for data charges using foreign phone charges. It was found out that Apple iPhone regularly updates e-mail, even while it is switched off, so that when the owner switch it on, all his e-mail messages would be available. As we know that for US users a domestic data transfers cost nothing, but Apple iPhone’s international plan which now is working in 29 countries, costs $24.99 for 20MB data transfering.
So be very and very carefull when you use your Apple iPhone in foreign countries, when come back home you could receive very unlucky bill from AT&T. That’s how some people become a billioners…
Couple days ago has been released fully operational Russifier for Apple iPhone on one of iPhones.ru forums.
According to the author, known under nickname megafoniphone, Apple’s gadget is localised to Russian language for 90 percent - the interface of YouTube widget is not translated into Russian yet. However translation has some mistakes (see screenshot), but all of them will be solved very soon.
For Russifier installation is required Windows OS, all you have to do is to start an executed bat-file at the connected iPhone. Download an installer from HERE.

So we suspect, that when iPhone will come to Russia it will be already localised, and will support Cyrillics. Good job, guys. Victory is Our.

After Apple has announced a one millionth sold iPhone, a killer application for iPhone has been released.
This amazing application is vTap service from Veveo company, which makes possible to watch stream video from all over the Internet to your Apple iPhone.
Of course everybody knows that Apple has included one of the coolest application into iPhone - i mean, YouTube player, so now users could enjoy YouTube’s originally-created videos on their iPhones. However, iPhone’s YouTube player had to encode their videos in the H.264 format, thus decreasing the number of videos that can be watched on Apple iPhone. For this moment only about 10,000 videos are available from YouTube for Apple iPhone.
So vTap application from Veveo is created to solve exactly this problem, to watch every stream video from the web.

How this app works?
vTap app has build-in amazing character-based incremental search, where users begin to receive search results instantly after they have typed first character. Then results are refined as more characters are entered , that’s how users could find whatever they want, without typing full word or phrase.
vTap app combine both search and browse features, and creates amazingly intuitive method for discovering web videos.
When you have found a video and you click on it to play, the servers transcode this video from the original format to the format that your Apple iPhone can play. The only thing that this video’s transcoding process will take some time and won’t be exactly a true streaming.
I have tested vTap app from my webbrowser and was quite impressed; the search was very accurate and precize and I was able to play videos from various sources like YouTube, DailyMotion and Metacafe.
Veveo’s vTap service will definitely be one of the iPhone applications that will be favorites list when I get my hands on the iPhone.
I have to note, that vTap app is also available for Microsoft Windows Mobile phone users.
Download vTap application using your iPhone’s Safari browser from http://vtap.com.
