Why have they not added a character count or how many messages an SMS uses yet? Every phone I have ever had included this feature. This is annoying and Apple don't normally pee me off.

The new 16gb IPhone has been released and it contains the new software update that makes it harder for third party companies to unlock it, but does have nice updates for gps type direction. The phone can give you directions for your current position, even if you don't know where you are.

I think these are the features it should have that are logical and reasonable...

1. 3G - hardware
2. GPS - hardware
3. Multi-contact texting - software
4. Bluetooth pairing (A2DP for bluetooth headphones, etc.) - software
5. Video recording (that's so easy... cmon!) - software
6. Obvious 3rd party support (already implemented for February) - software
7. External Disk Use (already implemented, I believe for 1.1.3) - software
8. MMS (easy upgrade... not sure why they haven't yet) - software
9. Copy/paste feature (pretty easy as well.. just an array of text. Cmon... it's an OS for christ sake!) - software
10. Voice memos (easy and I think integrated in the new 1.1.3 update expected soon) - software

That's about all I'd ever need more out of the iPhone. It's already great as it is, but those features would just make the phone perfect in every single way... owning the whole entire market of smartphones that contain some of those features. Most of it's software, so it shouldn't be that hard. Just two of them are hardware updates that I'd like to see, but not as much as those damn software updates!
