Ambrosia Software yesterday has declared that they will use all efforts on developing of their utility for creation of iPhone ringtones called iToner for 1.1.1 iPhone’s firmware.

According to developers, the problem is that now Apple began to cipher all content of the device, and also to sign it. Thus the company has added two additional levels of safety in iPhone.
“But we do not surrender, however”, speaks Andrew Welch, the president of Ambrosia company. ” We do not give any promises, but we assiduously work on this problem. Thank for your support and patience”.
Practically the same words has spoken iPhone Dev group, which is the official avant guarde of iPhone-community: we are workind, problems are known, and we search the new ways.
Remember January, 2007, MacWorld Expo and amazing presentation of Apple iPhone by Steve Jobs? After that it become very popular to download from the Internet the paper models of cellular phone from Cupertino, to print out iPhone on the jet printer, to use glue and scissors, and then go public with very similar copy of Apple’s gadget. Since then the mini-industry of paper iPhones has not died and regularly continues to react on radical updates of iPhone firmware - in particular, to release of the sensational 1.1.1 version with iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store support. Download, print out, cut out and stick together.

Read some interesting reviews of the new version of paper iPhone:
“Unfortunately even in 1.1.1 version, the touch screen still does not work, there is no changes in an icon of Calculator application, slow speed of the graphic interface and confused extremely fragile design of the device. We can hope, that Apple Papercraft, Inc. led by Steve PaperJobs can correct in the near future all iPhone’s bugs and cope with the main problem of Paper iPhone - the roughnesses and scratches on the iPhone case”.

After iPocalypse 1.1.1 Update buyers refuse to take in Apple Store phones with an 1.1.1 firmware. Especially it is actual for iPhones, which are flying to Russia. Denis from iPhones forum gives an advice how to determine the version of iPhone’s firmware directly in Apple Store, not opening an original packing.
It is necessary to look at the serial number printed on a box, you need to find numbers after 7v7 and 7s7: if there will be numbers 38 and lower, you can buy this iPhone - probability that this phone will have 1.0.2 firmware or lower is very high; if there will be numbers from 40 and higher, the probability of 1.1.1 firmware is very high.
If you have already unpacked phone, follow to advice of AppleSPB:
- Open Emergency Call menu
- Type *3001#12345#*
- Press on Green Phone button
- Go to Versions tab
And look, what you have in your lovely Apple’s toy:
03.12.06_G - the 1.0.0 firmware
03.14.08_G - the 1.0.1 and 1.02 firmware
04.01.13_G - the 1.1.1 firmware
Alexander (aka Scorpios33) adds:
04.02.04_G - 1.1.1 Apple Store’s original firmware, differs from an 1.1.1 upgrade.
