Representatives of AT&T have declared on Thursday, USA biggest carrier has finished 2007 year with two millions active iPhone users.
According to Rick Lindner, main financier of AT&T, they had “very strong″ sales of Apple’s devices in October and November, and in December they have doubled it. It has allowed AT&T to finish the year with two millions new subscribers. How many from them has come from other providers, he did not specify.

But these figures give the chance to us to estimate iPhone’s “unlocking” scales. In 2007 has been sold 3,7 million devices, where about 400 thousand has been sold in Europe. Thus in USA has been sold about 3,3 million Apple′s communicators, from which only two millions is using Apple iPhone officially through AT&T. After some simple mathematical operations we can get, that almost 40 percent of iPhones are used bypassing AT&T contract. 40%, upsss!
Representatives from AT&T prefer not to name any concrete figures, and foggy speaking only about “a considerable number of unlocked iPhones“. While it is not clear how AT&T is going to struggle with iPhone’s world. So, unlocking of a new iPhone’s firmware v1.1.3 has taken only two weeks. Upsss, again!
