It looks sleak and 'sexy.' It doesn't need all the features - many consumers don't even really care about features anyway, they just know that they think it looks <i>goood</i>. This Xperia x1 looks like any old phone, with the exception that it has a large screen (in fact i find it to be a big ugly). Not to mention the cult following, many people's disdain for microsoft products, blah blah blah. Additionally, it doesn't seem to play music or videos, further turning off those who think highly of apple products.
